Abu Isaam Imran Ali meets Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Phillips in Chennai, India

On 10th May 2009, Abu Isaam Imran Ali & Dr. Akif visited Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Phillips at his office in Chennai, India. A new Islamic School, under the supervision of Dr. Bilal Phillips, has been launched in Chennai by the name “Al-Fajr International School”. He has also started Islamic Studies (BIAS degree) program for Muslims from Preston college. In order to ensure proper and smooth running of both, Dr. Bilal Phillips will make active presence at the school for the next two years.

PPC Team met him at his main office of Al-Fajr International School. The meeting went on for more than 1 hour in which several points were discussed. Dr. Bilal Phillips advised the importance of “Islamicizing” the entire school curriculum instead of just introducing Islamic studies into the present curriculum. His School shall have the Cambridge “International General Certificate of Secondary Education” (known as IGCSE), an internationally recognized qualification for school students.

On PPC’s offer, Dr. Bilal Phillips agreed to come to Hyderabad for various lectures, workshops and seminars. This shall begin somewhere in June 2009. Inshallah.
